Inspirational Mood Board: Pretty Little Mess

Hi there, Antonia is writing. I had to prepare this mood board and I loved the result! It represents my passions and inspirations. Enjoy my pretty mess!

So, what inspires me? Flowers!

This morning we both woke up very early and went to the flower market. It usually closes by 11 am, so at 8 pm we were there choosing our flowers. We had so much fun there and I was glad that we did it together, with my beloved Fabio.

Now, look at these graceful autumn dahlias, aren't they beautiful? I do not know how you feel about dahlias, but I adore them. They are full of grace and light. Did you notice the blue delphinium in the tall vase? Such a gentle flower. Then some stems of celosia cristata. I remember my grand-grand-mother, she used to grow celosia in the garden, so every time I see this velvety magenta flower, it reminds me of our old family house and the pretty little garden that unfortunately doesn't exist anymore.

Well, what's next in the mood board? There is art, our paintings and books on artists that inspire us both  as well as other books that we both re-read often, like Julia Cameron's The Artist Way. We love old and used objects, all kinds of paints and brushes, my Chinese ink stone, which I use when I do ink wash painting, along with pencils, my garden scissors and two stones that help to keep your feet on the ground.

Did you like my colorful mess?

Color Inspirations: Autumn Rust

Hello everyone! How is your week going? Ours is quite busy and today we want to write about what inspires us lately : the autumn rusty brown color.

Rust, English Red, Venetian Red, Indian red, Ochre, Burnt Siena, Brick, Terracotta, Copper. These are the colors of autumn that inspire us. Rust is the color of the delicate leaves that glow in a warm October day. Rust is the color of my wool sweater. The color of the wall in front of the house. The color of all the houses in our neighbourhood. Warm as a blanket, and cute as a pine cone.

Rust is a color that can easily match with many others, with dark and light gray, with tan, with purple, teal green, pale blue, and turquoise. We personally love matching rust with dark gray and we find this combination fantastic.

Home decor accessories such as pillows and blankets in rusty brown give the house a decadent and unusual look, but at the same time it is warm and inviting. Not necessarily rustic, indeed, rust color matched with dark gray is elegant and slightly nostalgic.

A painting or print in this color would fit your walls if their color is white or cream, but even if it is pale gray or very pale blue or green.

White matting and framing is the most suitable for this color, but, of course it depends on your personal taste. If you prefer dark wooden frames, then just try not to overdo it with the wood. Of course, if you are not a fan of brown, there are so many other colors in the palette; what about a delicate shabby pale blue look?

That's it, our rust color inspiration. Stay in touch with us here, on facebook and on twitter. You can find all the artwork we have used for this post in Duealberi shop. We have just listed the Rusty Seeds and the Rusty Leaves watercolors: they are brand new. The two prints are from our shabby chic home decor series and you can find them on our site as well.

So friends, what do you think about the rust color? Would you put it on your wall? We would be happy to hear from you.

Back to School: decor8 Blogging Your Way Boot Camp

Hi there, Antonia is writing. Today we have some great news to share. I have signed up for the decor8 Blogging Your Way Boot Camp. Friday was my first day at school and I am so happy about it. The online e-course is founded and taught by Holly Becker from decor8 with a focus on a creative, personal and meaningful approach to blogging. We had learned about the course reading one of our favorite bloggers Flowerona

So hopefully there will be many positive changes here on our blog. You may notice that I have already put my decor8 badge here and in the following 30 days will be studing and working hard in order to improve our creative blog.

Last but not least, we are putting some new images online, hope that you will like them. This one is inspired by our favorite blue plumbago shrub. Do you remember our plumbago watercolor post? All works have been influenced by the same plumbago shrub. Now it is still in bloom in the garden. Fine art prints in different sizes are available on our etsy page

So, here we are: full of new creative energy and eager to learn many new things and tips, ready to create our new collection soon. Stay tuned, as always, here or on twitter. Wishing you a wonderful week, full of sun and creativity!
